Background Check Process Overview
At Shiftsmart, certain roles require background checks, which are handled by a third-party provider. Here’s what you need to know:
Before Submitting a Background Check:
- You must select a shift before submitting a background check. This ensures there are available shifts in your area.
- If no shifts are visible, we are not currently offering any in your area. Once a shift is available and accepted, you can submit a background check through the onboarding flow.
Processing Time:
- Background checks can take up to 7 days, depending on factors like court report availability and your previous residence history.
Profile Update:
- Your profile will update automatically once the background check is complete.
- If you see an error message or can’t proceed, your check is likely still pending.
Error Messages and Pending Checks:
- If you encounter an error during the background check process, it usually means your check is pending.
- If your report is marked “Consider” or “Review,” you must wait for an update or follow-up email.
Adverse Action Notices:
- If you receive a Pre-Adverse Action notice via email, you have seven days to respond with additional information.
- After seven days, a Post-Adverse Action notice will be sent if no response is received, and you will be marked ineligible for roles requiring a background check.
Disputing Inaccurate Information:
- If your report contains inaccurate information, use the “Dispute” option in your background check report to address it.
