Types of Inspections: Health Inspectors and EcoSure
There are two main types of inspections a store may receive: Health Inspectors and EcoSure. Both are essential for keeping the store’s food production running smoothly. These inspections check food handling, hygiene, cleanliness, sanitation, and equipment maintenance. Any issues found during these inspections will be reported to Circle K and could affect the in-store team's pay.
Key Food Safety Guidelines
Review the key food safety guidelines before each shift:
- Dress Code:
- Always be clean and neat.
- Wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
- Avoid graphic t-shirts, shorts, or flip-flops.
- Handwashing:
- Wash your hands multiple times during your shift, and whenever the Store Manager (SM) asks. Rewash hands if you return from outside of the kitchen.
- Hair and Beard Nets:
- Wear hairnets throughout your shift.
- If you have facial hair, wear a beard net as well.
- Gloves:
- Wear gloves, and change them whenever you handle a different type of food.
- When in doubt, use new gloves
- Temperature Checks:
- Complete temperature checks for food coming out of the oven (more details to come).
- Expired Products:
- Remove any expired products based on the label stickers.
- Place them in the discard section for the SM to note and discard.
- Chemical Safety:
- Store all chemical bottles in their designated locations with caps securely screwed on.
- This is especially important when washing dishes at the end of your shift.
Remember: Hot Water for Wash and Rinse. Cold Water for Sanitizing.
